![]() ![]() I kept it in standard mode the whole time because that's what I had been riding with in the past and I wanted to compare apples to apples.įirst I can say that the throttle twitchyness, while not 100% gone, is much much better. ![]() From one new guy to another, welcome, and I look forward to more content including your review of your flash.Īlright so my ride into work is completed, the first real ride with Ivan's tune. I know what you mean about wishing there was more content and do the same thing checking out active topics often. I only notice the fan when I cut the engine off, truthfully, but your post has made me curious to watch temps now more closely to see what kind of temps I am running. I didn't question it and have had no issues thus far, although it hasn't been long. He says this makes the bike more comfortable to ride and should help extend motor longevity. Vcyclenut recommends having the fan turn on at 195 and off at 185 and says with these settings the fan should basically never come on when you are moving but will come on shortly after coming to a stop. So far it has been great, only getting up to 206 or so that I have seen (but I admit I don't watch it all the time), even on days in the upper 80's, low 90's. Temps are rising here now, with highs around 97 this weekend, and I am curious to see how hot my bike runs. I actually had mine flashed by vcyclenut though, another of the highly recommended tuners around here, and I have been very happy with it thus far. I have read nothing but good about Ivan's tunes, including several that say they are the best in their opinion, and I agree with advice that says a flash and suspension is the best money that can be spent on these bikes, depending on your size and weight of course. If you sold it you would have to replace it with something, and I think most would agree that is one of the better exhausts for these bikes. I came from a dirt bike background and originally started looking for a dual sport before ending up with my '16 XSR900. I really like the R6/DRZ400sm offspring analogy. I've been lurking here for a couple weeks since I bought the bike, I find myself often refreshing the active topics page wishing there was more content so here I am creating that content! Talk to you soon once the tune gets back from Ivan!Ĭongrats on the FZ purchase! It sounds like you got a pretty good deal to me, especially since it looks like it was well taken care of. So because of this, today I will be shipping my ECU off to Ivan to get his regular tune done and I will report back my findings once I get it installed and some seat time in. Does anyone have any insight on the fan setpoints? I almost included a note for Ivan to change this to 205/195 but decided against it at the last moment, figuring he knows what he's doing. I guess I just feel like the fan will be on almost all the time you are even at a stoplight. ![]() Honestly I kinda feel like the 200/190 setpoints that the tuners do might even be a little bit low but I'm not the expert here. Lastly, I ride in traffic sometimes and I saw the bike get up to 225F one time which is a bit hot for my liking and I'm glad that the tune will make the rad fans come on earlier. Also with the exhaust I want to make sure the bike isn't going to run lean, the previous owner never got a tune or anything after installing the exhaust, and even though Akropovic says you don't have to, its almost undoubtedly better to get tuned for whatever exhaust you have. So the first thing that I noticed about the FZ09, as probably everyone does, is that the throttle is wayyy too twitchy, especially at small throttle openings or when going from totally closed throttle to open. ![]()
